Join us in supporting Catholic Community Services (CCS) by making purchases or donating directly during our “Community First Saturday” event on Saturday October 6th, 2018. CCS representatives will be present at Angeles Millworks, informing all those that attend and shop about the local work and the support they offer the elderly, disabled and the less fortunate in Clallam County. 5% of all retail sales collected that Saturday and 100% of donations taken in the store, will be split with this incredible organization AND the Sequim Wheelers!
Funds raised at the stores will be used to help support the material costs for construction of facilities that grant the elderly and disabled within Clallam County greater independence through the use of wheel chair ramps and other physical assistance devices.
We chose CCS as a Community First Saturday recipient because we believe our support is an absolute necessity for those generations that have come before us. There are many in our elder community that lack the needed funds, skills or physical ability to create an independent life for themselves. Utilizing our opportunities to give a small piece to this population can lead to a greater quality of life for many that go unnoticed. Getting the elder population outside and into our communities is not only a huge benefit for their quality of life but will produce immeasurable dividends to our younger populations with every interaction.
The mission statement of the Catholic Community Services is rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and the Gospel imperative, Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services are outreaches of the Catholic Church in Western Washington, under the leadership of the Archbishop of Seattle and the Boards of Trustees. CCS and CHS answer the Gospel call to loving and compassionate service with particular concern for the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death and the dignity of the human person. Our employees and volunteers come from many faith traditions to serve and support poor and vulnerable people through the provision of quality, integrated services and housing. Our focus is on those individuals, children, families, and communities struggling with poverty and the effects of intolerance and racism. We actively join with others to work for justice.
CCS in Clallam County has a strong focus on assisting elderly and disabled adults with household tasks, transportation to medical appointments, shopping, minor home repairs, wheelchair ramp construction and other essential errands.
CCS relies on donations and volunteers to fully support their outreach into the communities of the Olympic Peninsula. Working in conjunction with the Clallam Group of the Boeing Bluebills, CCS would not be the local success it is today. The all volunteer group of former Boeing employees are essential with their assistance of minor home repairs, grab bars, wheelchair ramps and other assistance devices. Not everyone can donate financially so we’re not only encouraging monetary donations but also extending the call for qualified people to volunteer and assist in the construction of wheelchair ramps and installation of physical assistance device in homes.
Mark it down on your calendar, set a reminder on your phone and pledge to come on down to Angeles Millwork or Hartnagel Building Supply, Saturday October 6th, and shop with a purpose. Community non-profits help to keep our communities whole, profitable and productive. But it can’t be done without everyone’s help.
Your participation matters!
