In 2018, we decided to take a bold approach to the way we support community organizations and began Community First Saturdays (CFS).
CFS is a monthly promotion where we give 5% of retail sales from the first Saturday of the month to a chosen, local, non-profit. During the week leading up to the first Saturday we promote the chosen non-profit through in store signage and social media promotions. On the given Saturday, organizations set-up in the stores to take donations and inform our customers about their mission within the community.
As an employee owned company, we have a strong connection, and a large responsibility to support the community organizations of the Olympic Peninsula. Our customers and employee owners live, work and play right here. We are committed to not only providing the best customer service and building materials on the peninsula but our continual best efforts to support our community.
In 2019 we will be continuing with our efforts and making a strong attempt to exceed what was raised in 2018. In partnership with our generous customers, who gave an amazing effort, we donated over $12,000 that went right back into our community.
What are we looking for?
We are encouraging local, non-profit organizations with a mission that our community desperately needs, to apply. We will focus our attention on organizations that are local and have a direct impact to the Olympic Peninsula. We love the idea of supporting organizations that are mostly manned by volunteers with little time to actively fund-raise or apply for appropriate funding grants. All community non-profits are eligible and will be considered, except for any that received funds through the promotion in 2018.
February 1st, 2019 we will announce the 10 non-profits that we chose out of the applications submitted. Chosen non-profits will be awarded 5% of our retail sales for the 1st Saturday of their given month.
March 3rd, 2019 we will relaunch Community First Saturdays with our new 2019 recipients. The non-profit organizations chosen will be promoted each month through our website and social media channels, highlighting their accomplishments in the community and their immediate needs. Organizations will also be invited to set-up a small display in the store on their Saturday and inform our customers about the great work that they do for our local communities.
